Mommy Makeover In Reno, NV

While having a child will forever change the mother’s life, who said it also had to change her body? Pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding take a toll on your body. What was once a firm stomach now sports a noticeable pooch. Breasts have lost volume and seem to be flatter. The weight gain and loss left unwanted pockets of fat on hard-to-target areas such as the outer thighs. It can be depressing.

But you can get your pre-baby body back, and maybe then some, with a mommy makeover from Dr. Dahan and the team at Advanced Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

What Is A Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a single surgery combining various procedures that target the areas affected by pregnancy and childbirth. The advantage of the combination aspect of a mommy makeover is that it requires a single recovery period, despite having various procedures.

What Procedures Are Involved With A Mommy Makeover?

Dr. Dahan takes a unique approach to each patient’s mommy makeover, weighing the goals and expectations. He’ll then recommend and discuss his strategy for the procedure with you. These are the procedures that make up a typical mommy makeover.

Breast Lift

When the breasts gain size and weight during pregnancy, the skin and support tissue tend to stretch and sag. A breast lift removes excess skin and brings the breasts back up to a higher position on the chest.

Breast Augmentation

Breastfeeding often decreases breast volume; this tends to flatten the breasts. Many women simply want to have breasts similar to what they had before pregnancy. Others decide they’d like larger breasts. To accomplish this, Dr. Dahan places breast implants at the completion of the breast lift procedure.

Liposuction

Stubborn pockets of fat can show up after pregnancy. You may have lost your baby weight, but fat accumulated in unwanted pockets that don’t seem to respond to exercise. Liposuction removes these pockets on the inner and outer thighs, hips, and abdomen.

Tummy Tuck

In many women, the localized weight gained during pregnancy stretches the muscles and stomach skin to a degree that they can’t return back to their former degree of tautness. This leaves a pooch on the lower abdomen. In some cases, the muscles may have separated. A tummy tuck trims excess sagging skin and repositions separated muscles to give you back a flat stomach.

Would A Mommy Makeover Be Right For Me?

Many of the problems created by pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding are due to the very localized nature of the weight gain in the abdomen and the breasts. This creates unwanted sagging and volume loss.

If these characteristics sound like your post-baby figure, a mommy makeover could be a great procedure for you:

  • Your breasts have sagged, and the nipples may point downward to a degree.
  • Your breasts have lost volume and have flattened.
  • You have pockets of stubborn fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise.
  • You have a stomach pooch.
  • You’ve lost most of your pregnancy weight.
Why Should I Combine Procedures Into A Mommy Makeover?

You could opt to have a breast lift/augmentation, a tummy tuck, and liposuction as individual procedures. You’d simply have three surgeries and three recoveries. That’s the beauty of a mommy makeover — you combine all the surgeries into one surgical session and, better yet, you only have one recovery period.

Mommy Makeover Patient Review

"I love Dr. Dahan!! I had a mommy makeover with amazing results. I can now fit a size 6 pants without the muffin top. Dr. Dahan and his staff are all so caring and professional. Dr. Dahan was very patient with the questions I had and really took the time to explain what would happen and what the results would be. After the surgery Dr. Dahan came and talked with my husband and myself. He was so kind, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thanks to Dr. Dahan I have never felt better about my body. Thank you Dr. Dahan I can’t express what a difference you have made in my life. A huge thanks to your staff, who are absolutely wonderful and the excellent care from the nurses at Renown. I have and will recommend Dr. Dahan to anyone who wants to enhance their beauty.”

How Long After My Child Was Born Until I Can Have A Mommy Makeover?

There are some time requirements that Dr. Dahan includes with his potential mommy makeover patients. First, you need to have finished breastfeeding for at least three months before you can have these procedures. This allows your breasts to settle to where their normal size and shape will be. Second, you’ll need to have lost the majority of your baby weight. Dr. Dahan requires his mommy makeover patients to be within 10 percent of their ideal body weight to qualify for these procedures.

What Will My Recovery Be Like After A Mommy Makeover?*

It is important to remember that you have had surgery on at least two areas of your body, most likely accommodated by liposuction, so the recovery will be more involved than with a single procedure. The upside to having these procedures done all at once is that, although the recovery is more involved, you only have to go through the process once rather than with multiple procedures at different intervals. The surgery that dictates the most involved part of the recovery is the tummy tuck. This is due to the length of the incision that stretches across your bikini line from hip to hip. Plus, most tummy tucks involve bringing separated muscles back together to some degree.

Your first week after your surgery will be the most strenuous on your body. You will need to be in bed for most of that week, so you’ll need complete help with the kids and with other household duties you may have. Working mothers will need to take off work and may return after one or two weeks depending on the activity level. You’ll need to wear compression garments to minimize swelling and to help your body adjust and adapt to its new slimmer contours. For your breasts, you’ll wear a support bra for at least one month to support your lifted, and potentially augmented breasts.

A tummy tuck can take the longest to fully recover from. You will wear a compression binder for about 6 weeks after surgery to ensure a full recovery. Most mommy makeover patients can return to a light level of activity after one or two weeks, but anything strenuous (especially any lifting) will have to wait for at least six weeks. It is important to limit heavy lifting and any strain on your stomach muscles for a few months after surgery.

What Happens If I Get Pregnant And Have Another Child After A Mommy Makeover?

It’s important that you have made the decision to not have any more children before you proceed with a mommy makeover. If you again gain and subsequently lose weight, your body will stretch all the same spots again and your results will be negated.
